PENGUINS' TICKET SALES COOLING OFF; TEAM MIGHT MISS GOAL

The "enthusiasm generated" from Mario Lemieux's
purchase of the Penguins "hasn't translated into
particularly strong ticket sales," as the team has sold
around 8,900 season tickets, "well below" its off-season
goal of 12,000, according to Dave Molinari of the PITTSBURGH
POST-GAZETTE. Lemieux hopes "to be close to 11,000 by the
end of the season." Lemieux spent last weekend in Boston at
the Ryder Cup where he "shared a house" with Michael Jordan.
Lemieux, on Jordan's interest in team ownership: "I don't
think he wants to get involved with hockey. I think he's
trying to get an NBA franchise" (POST-GAZETTE, 9/28).
