The Bills "promise an all-out blitz against" disruptive
fans this season whose "drinking, fighting, swearing,
vomiting, urinating, stripping, smoking -- and last year
even fornicating -- have turned some fans and their families
against going" to Ralph Wilson Stadium, according to Herbeck
& Beebe of the BUFFALO NEWS. The newly-renovated stadium
will utilize surveillance cameras, guest services booths for
fans to file complaints, and "larger and more efficient
facilities for booking and locking up those arrested." The
Bills also have "spoken to county prosecutors and Orchard
Park judges about taking a harder line with offenders."
Bills VP/Operations Bill Munson: "Ninety-nine percent of the
people who come to our games are great. ... We're not going
to let 1 percent of the fans spoil a great time for everyone
else." Herbeck & Beebe wrote that the "out-of-control fans
are a small minority -- maybe 500 to 1,000 -- but enough of
them make the game less enjoyable for thousands of others."
The team "wants to create a family-friendly atmosphere ...
with less tolerance for obnoxious and even criminal behavior
in the stands" (BUFFALO NEWS, 8/22).
