          GOIN' HOLLYWOOD: Actor MICHAEL RICHARDS, formerly
     "Kramer" on "Seinfeld," will be at the Vikings' training
     complex Tuesday to shoot a promo for ABC's "MNF" with
     Vikings players CRIS CARTER, JOHN RANDLE, RANDALL CUNNINGHAM
     and RANDY MOSS (ST. PAUL PIONEER PRESS, 8/22)....The DREW
     CAREY SHOW will tape at Cleveland Browns Stadium on August
     29, with locals getting the chance to be extras, wearing
     "anything ... that will show the rest of the country what
     real Browns fans look like" (AKRON BEACON JOURNAL,
     8/21)....Actress GEENA DAVIS failed to qualify for the 2000
     Olympic archery team in the semifinal competition this
     weekend, finishing 24th out of 28 competitors (AP,
     8/22)....Jets WR KEYSHAWN JOHNSON, on the role he was
     supposed to play in OLIVER STONE's "ANY GIVEN SUNDAY": "They
     wanted me to do things I was not accustomed to doing, like
     making obscene gestures toward females."  Stone was "willing
     to re-write the part, but Johnson couldn't rearrange his
     schedule to shoot the scenes" (NEWSDAY, 8/22).
          MORE NAMES: Pacers head coach LARRY BIRD was inducted
     into the IN St. Univ. Athletics Hall of Fame on Saturday
     (INDIANAPOLIS STAR-NEWS, 8/22)....The AP reports that
     Blazers/Seahawks Owner PAUL ALLEN has "teed off" WA ecology
     officials because his Willows Run Golf Course, which Allen
     co-owns with his brother-in-law BRIAN PATTON, "draws water
     from the Sammamish River" to irrigate the greens on the 36-
     hole course.  The practice "may not be legal" and state
     ecologists "are convinced it imperils" an endangered breed
     of salmon.  Seattle-based Center for Environmental Law &
     Policy water-rights lawyer ROB CALDWELL: "This is war"
     (AP/SEATTLE P-I, 8/23)....FSN's Van Earl Wright reported
     that Canadian golfer MIKE WEIR "got a pick me up phone call"
     from WAYNE GRETZKY after shooting a final round 80 at the
     PGA Championships ("Primetime," FSN, 8/21)....CNN/SI's Jason
     Dasey reported SERGIO GARCIA "is about to fulfill a longtime
     goal. ... [Garcia] will partner with ... ANNA KOURNIKOVA in
     a charity tennis match.  The pair will play the doubles team
     of ERNIE ELS and STEFFI GRAF in a curtain-raiser to a
     women's tournament in Miami next month" ("Pro Golf Weekly,"
     CNN/SI, 8/21)....HBO Senior VP LOU DIBELLA told CNN's Nick
     Charles that the "option" for LENNOX LEWIS to fight an
     opponent other than EVANDER HOLYFIELD if a deal isn't signed
     by next Friday is a "moot point, because the network expects
     the deal to be signed probably by [today]" (CNN/SI, 8/21).
