WILL PREMIER LEAGUE FACE $32M SUIT FROM FORMER BSKYB EXECS?

The English Premier League could face a "breach of
contract" lawsuit of "up to" $32M from former BSkyB execs
Sam Chisholm and David Chance, according to Mihir Bose of
the London TELEGRAPH. League clubs decided yesterday to
"reject the revised terms" of their current TV rights,
marking the "third time [league Chair David] Richards has
failed to broker" a settlement deal with Chisholm and
Chance." The rejected TV deal made "no mention" of Chisholm
and Chance receiving a stake in a potential new Premier
League TV channel and an upfront payment of $800,000 per
year, terms similar to the original Premier League agreement
if they were to deliver a "lucrative" Premier League TV
package. But Chisholm & Chance have "legal advice that
their [original] contract is binding" (TELEGRAPH, 8/20).
