A QUICK TURNER-ROUND: Former NBA coach Mike Fratello
has signed a multi-year deal with Turner Sports to serve as
an NBA analyst (Turner). Fratello replaces Doc Rivers, who
was named coach of the Magic. Rivers' "primary partner" was
Kevin Harlan, but Turner Sports said Fratello's partner
"hasn't been determined." Fratello: "It would be great to
work with Marv [Albert] again" (AKRON BEACON JOURNAL, 8/18).
HEY, BABE: With Dan Patrick's new talk show on ESPN
Radio (See THE DAILY, 8/17), Nanci "The Fabulous Sports
Babe" Donnellan "is out." ABC Radio said the company and
Donnellan "have mutually agreed to end their relationship at
her request" (MILWAUKEE JOURNAL SENTINEL, 8/18).
RADIO WAVES: In Boston, Howard Manly reports that John
Dennis and Gerry Callahan will replace Don Imus during WEEI-
AM's morning drive-time slot, 6:00-10:00am, beginning
September 7. WEEI Programming Dir Jason Wolfe described the
show as "guy talk." Callahan is "uncertain whether his new
hours will prevent him from continuing his work at Sports
Illustrated" (BOSTON GLOBE, 8/18)....In Miami, Barry Jackson
reports that WFOR-CBS sportscaster Jim Berry and Miami
Herald sports writer Armando Salguero will host talk shows
on Miami's new sports radio station The Fan. Meanwhile,
N.Y.'s WFAN has informed The Fan that it "will not allow" it
to simulcast Mike Francesa's and Chris Russo's "Mike and the
Mad Dog Show" (MIAMI HERALD, 8/18).
