NAMES & FACES: HAS TIGER WOODS BECOME THE "ESTABLISHMENT?"

Since Tiger Woods won The Masters in '97, he "has been
a major disappointment," according to Lynn Zinser of the
Colorado Springs GAZETTE. Zinser: "He made neat
commercials. He won a smattering of tournaments. He drew
kids to a handful of clinics, boosted attendance wherever he
played. He also became the establishment. ... There are no
more 'We Are Tiger Woods' commercials. No more rattling the
establishment. ... Into the world, into this void, drops
Sergio [Garcia]" (GAZETTE, 8/18). AmEx takes out full-page
ads in USA Today and the Wall Street Journal congratulating
Woods on his PGA Championship victory (8/18).
