PACKERS TOP WI FAN POLL, BUT NOT ON PUBLIC STADIUM FUNDING

A poll by the WI Policy Research Institute showed that
79% of state residents consider themselves Packers fans, but
only 42% of those surveyed said they would favor state
financial help for a new stadium for the team, according to
Alan Borsuk of the MILWAUKEE JOURNAL SENTINEL. In the
survey, 55% said they would oppose such state funding and 3%
were undecided or had no answer. In fan affiliation, 77% of
women identified themselves as Packers fans, compared with
81% of men. In addition, 68% of those surveyed said they
were Univ. of WI fans, 52% said they were Brewers fans and
40% said they were Bucks fans. The telephone survey of
1,002 WI residents was conducted for the WI Policy Research
by Harris Interactive (MILWAUKEE JOURNAL SENTINEL, 8/18).
