FACILITY NOTES

Broncos Owner Pat Bowlen would prefer not to sell
naming rights to the new Broncos stadium. Bowlen: "I love
the Mile High name. I obviously would have no objection to
keeping it." The Metropolitan Football Stadium District
controls the sale of naming rights and said a decision on
the rights will be made after it conducts a survey of the
six-county Denver area (DENVER POST, 8/18)....The Rockies
"won't be pitching in" for a proposed light-rail line which
will run through the Central Platte Valley because its last
stop will be "too far away" from Coors Field. The Broncos
and Pepsi Center have "agreed to give roughly $300,000
each." Pepsi Center President Tim Romani said the rail line
comes "pretty darn close" to Coors Field but added that he
"recognizes that the Rockies need to make business
decisions" (DENVER POST, 8/18)....In S.F., C.W. Nevius wrote
that the seats at the Giants' new Pac Bell Park "are so
close to the field that everyone, even the Giants, is
starting to wonder if some kind of extra safety netting will
have to be added to the plans" (S.F. CHRONICLE, 8/17).
