REALIGNING ITS STARS: MLB TO DELAY REALIGNMENT OF TEAMS?

MLB realignment, "once a possibility for 2000, will not
happen until at least 2001," according to USA TODAY's Hal
Bodley, who writes that when it does occur, "look for
radical unbalanced schedules, the possibility of four, four-
team divisions in the National League and at least two teams
changing leagues" (USA TODAY, 8/17). In Phoenix, Dan
Bickley writes that "speculation" has the D'Backs moving to
the AL West "before the 2001 or 2002 season." D'Backs
Managing General Partner Jerry Colangelo: "I'm a team
player. They have the right to do what they want to do. I
put my trust in the commissioner" (AZ REPUBLIC, 8/17).
FALLING AHEAD: MLB's Arizona Fall League will open its
eighth season on October 5 and in a new development to build
fan awareness, Fall League players will wear the uniform of
their parent-team for the first time (MLB).
