MEDIA PEOPLE & PERSONALITIES: JOHNSON GOES ONLINE W/BET

BET Chair & CEO Robert Johnson, on his new internet
venture BET.com: "Compelling content, engaging information.
We're going to deliver the audience that advertisers will
want, we'll be able to engage in e-commerce, we'll provide
the opportunity for African-Americans to connect like they
never have done before online" ("Moneyline," CNN, 8/12).
NFL NEWS: NBC Sports' Dick Enberg, whose contract at
the network expires at the end of the year: "I miss the NFL
more than I ever thought I would, and I'd really like to be
involved again. I have to see what the opportunities might
be. And it may not be just the NFL. Maybe this is a time
to examine all possibilities" (SAN DIEGO UNION-TRIBUNE,
8/13)....Broncos QB Bubby Brister, on replacing John Elway
on some of the local sports programming during the NFL
season: "The TV show I really would like to do is 'Bubby
Brister's Hunting and Fishing Outdoor Hour.' That's the
kind of show I would like to have, seriously" (DENVER POST,
8/12)....In Miami, Barry Jackson writes that CBS Sports
President Sean McManus' strategy of "using three rookie
studio analysts" for last year's "NFL Today" seemed "risky
and unnecessary." McManus has since brought in a more
experienced crew and said, "It was a mistake in judgement.
In retrospect, we did almost everything right. This was the
one thing we didn't" (MIAMI HERALD, 8/13).
ON HBO: Marcus Allen and Juwan Howard appear on the
next episode of HBO's "Arli$$." The show airs Sunday at
9:30pm and will replay next Tuesday at 11:30pm, Wednesday,
at 8:00pm and Friday at 12:00am (THE DAILY).
