THESE GUYS NOT BEING MALOOF ABOUT THEIR NEW TEAM OWNERSHIP

After recently assuming official ownership of the NBA
Kings, the Maloof family "is ready to deliver," according to
Martin McNeal of the SACRAMENTO BEE, who wrote that the
family is creating a $100,000 yearly charity commitment, as
well as upgrading "everything" at Arco Arena, "from the
quality of toilet paper used ... to the lighting in and
around the arena." One arena employee, after meeting with
the Maloofs: "Most owners just come in and tell us how
things are going to be. ... They wanted to know why we were
using one-ply toilet paper, and we said it was because it
was the cheapest thing available. That's what we were told
to buy so we did. They said that wasn't right and so now we
won't be doing that." The Kings "soon will announce" an
eight-game preseason schedule that will "include their
yearly charity event, the George J. Maloof Community Cup."
The family will donate "a minimum of $100,000 in proceeds
from the game to local charities" (SACRAMENTO BEE, 8/8).
