RATINGS NOTES: "MLB on Fox" is averaging a 2.8/9, up 4%
over last year's 2.7/9....MLS' All-Star game, which was
scheduled to air on ABC but was moved to ESPN2 due to news
coverage on JFK Jr., drew a 0.3/1 national rating, compared
to MLS' season-to-date average on ESPN2 of 0.2 (THE
DAILY)....In Toronto, Chris Zelkovich writes that ratings
for TSN's CFL games "continue to soar," with the games
averaging 235,000 viewers, up 15% over last year's average.
Zelkovich: "What's more amazing is that the numbers are so
high in July, normally a low-ratings period. The answer
could be blackouts, or lack of such" (TORONTO STAR, 7/23).
NOTE: For broadcast numbers, one ratings point =
994,000 homes. For cable, "Cov. Area" = % of homes tuned in
to that program in that network's universe of subscribers.
