UMM, UMM GOOD! CAMPBELL NEW LIGHTNING, ICE PALACE PRESIDENT

Palace Sports & Entertainment (PS&E) and Pistons Exec
VP Ron Campbell was named President of the Lightning and Ice
Palace (PS&E). In St. Petersburg, Damian Cristodero writes
that Campbell, who was "integral" in William Davidson's
purchase of the Lightning, will be responsible for the day-
to-day operations, marketing, promotions and community
relations for the Lightning, and direct upgrades at the Ice
Palace. Campbell: "We're going to manage people
differently. We're going to intertwine everyone, marketing,
accounting and box office people." Campbell will retain his
Pistons and PS&E positions (ST. PETERSBURG TIMES, 7/20).
RADIO WAVES: Cristodero also reports that Larry Hirsch,
the Lightning play-by-play announcer since the team's '92
inception, has been "relieved of that duty" by PS&E
President Tom Wilson. IHL Vipers play-by-play announcer
John Ahlers will take over (ST. PETERSBURG TIMES, 7/20).
