PREDATORS' IMPACT IN NASHVILLE EXTENDS BEYOND THE ICE

An independent study shows that the Predators generated
$82M in local economic activity during their inaugural
season, added 115 new jobs and "triggered millions of
dollars more in free publicity" for Nashville, according to
Leon Tucker of the Nashville TENNESSEAN. Predators
VP/Communications Gerry Helper: "It's a great bit of news
that quantifies what I think a lot of people have been
curious about." Vanderbilt Univ.'s Owen Graduate School of
Management Professor Richard Oliver, who conducted the
study, said that he was not compensated for the project and
initiated it "out of academic curiosity." Oliver's five-
year projection estimates the team creating about 575 new
jobs in downtown Nashville and "spurring approximately"
$470M in overall economic activity (TENNESSEAN, 7/17).
