EXECUTIVE TRANSACTIONS

          ESPN VP/Ad Sales EVAN STERNSCHEIN was named to head the
     network's national ad sales department, replacing JEFFREY
     MAHL, who left ESPN for a position with Web company Ask
     Jeeves (ESPN)....The SLOC named RICHARD LOCKHART Dir of
     Logistics for the 2002 Olympic Games.  Lockhart managed
     logistical planning for the Georgia World Congress Center
     during the '96 Atlanta Games (SALT LAKE TRIBUNE, 7/16).
     ...The Senators hired Ottawa attorney PETER CHIARELLI to
     replace former Ass't GM RAY SHERO.  Chiarelli will direct
     legal affairs for the team and the Corel Centre and will
     also conduct contract negotiations (OTTAWA CITIZEN, 7/16).
     ...Capitals PR Assistant AMY KELLER has left to become the
     PR Dir for the NPSL Baltimore Blast (THE DAILY)....The IHL
     Admirals named BRIAN MANTHEY as VP/Communications.  Manthey
     was the Admirals Dir of Communications from '95-97 before
     leaving to serve as President of the Wisconsin Sports
     Authority (Admirals)....AmericanAirlines Arena named ERIC
     BRESLER as VP/Marketing.  Bresler previously held marketing
     positions with the Nassau Coliseum, the Ice Palace and the
     Charlotte Coliseum, among other locations (AA Arena).
