TV MONITOR: Last night's 11:00pm ET FSN's "Primetime"
(Fox Sports Net South) led with the Miller Park fatalities
and followed with MLB umpires resigning on September 2. The
11:30pm ET edition of ESPN's "SportsCenter," which aired at
11:38, led with the MLB umpires and followed with Miller
Park. The 11:00pm ET edition of CNN/SI's "Sports Tonight"
led with MLB umpires and followed with the return of Astros
manager Larry Dierker. "Sports Tonight" reported on Miller
Park 26 minutes into the broadcast (THE DAILY). For the WNBA
All-Star Game, CNN/SI's "Sports Tonight" aired a 1:10 minute
report 11 1/2 minutes into its broadcast. ESPN's
"SportsCenter" had a two minute report eight minutes into
the broadcast. ESPN aired a follow-up interview with game
MVP Lisa Leslie 26 minutes into the broadcast. FSN's
"Primetime" (Fox Sports Net South) reported on the All-Star
Game seven minutes into its broadcast (THE DAILY).
CYBER CHAT: In SI's "Scorecard," Noah Liberman writes
on cybersquatters securing Web addresses related to pro
sports and athletes. One cybersquatter, Michael Noonan,
collects addresses and puts them "up for bid on a squatters'
auction site, DotBroker.com." Noonan recently "put eight
sports-related" Web addresses, including terrelldavis.com
and kerrywood.com, up for bid (SI, 7/19 issue)....Nuggets
second-round draft pick Chris Herren has launched his own
Web site at www.ChrisHerren.com. The site was created by
the sports/entertainment arm of e.lex interactive (e.lex).
NOTES: Fox Sports West 2 will televise up to eight AFL
L.A. Avengers' games next season (FSW2)....Through 14 weeks,
Fox Sports Net's Thursday night MLB telecasts have averaged
a .9 national rating (585,000 HHs), a 12.5% ratings increase
and a 16% increase in HHs over last year's .8 (487,000 HHs)
(FSN)....Former NFL QB Frank Reich has signed with
crosswalk.com, a Christian lifestyle Web site, to develop
"Sports Channel," a section that will "track the exploits of
Christian athletes" (BUSINESS JOURNAL of Charlotte, 7/9).
