SAN ANTONIO WOMAN SUES NBA PROPERTIES FOR PUBLIC HUMILIATION

San Antonio resident Laurie Del Negro is "suing" NBAP,
claiming it "caused her to be falsely arrested and publicly
humiliated" for allegedly buying counterfeit NBA merchandise
-- and later selling some of it -- at a Spurs game on May
29, according to the AP. NBAP, which worked with plain-
clothed police officers, "accused Del Negro of
counterfeiting the merchandise but has since dropped its
complaint." The NBA "would not comment" on Del Negro's
arrest, when she spent nearly 15 hours in jail "before being
released." NBA Dir of Marketing Communications Hilary
Cassidy: "We are confident that no rights were violated."
Del Negro: "It was so unbelievable that I kept telling
myself that this is going to be over in just a few minutes."
Del Negro's attorney Bernard Fischman said that his client
is seeking "substantial damages" in the suit (AP, 7/14).
