ESPN'S FANTASY BASEBALL FACES OUTAGE: SERVICE DOWN FOR DAYS

Users of ESPN's subscription-based Fantasy Baseball
site "have been sitting on the bench since Sunday due to an
ongoing outage," according to Wendy Marinaccio of CNET
News.com, who wrote that the site, part of Disney's Go
Network, was "apparently shut down for routine maintenance
this weekend but [had] yet to come back online" as of
yesterday. ESPN Internet Ventures Manager of Communications
Eric Handler said the company has "had some issues with
Fantasy Baseball." Handler "could not immediately comment
about how many members were affected," but Marinaccio noted
that the site "has sold more than 260,000 premium-tier
memberships." Some members of the site have complained that
they "weren't warned about the maintenance period, and that
they still have no idea when they can get back in the game."
However, ESPN did send an e-mail out to members stating that
"problems ... have rendered the site inaccessible." No date
on when the site would be up again was given (CNET, 7/13).
