NAMES IN THE NEWS

          MICHAEL JORDAN was in London for the opening of the
     latest NikeTown (CHARLOTTE OBSERVER, 7/14)....In Miami,
     Jason Cole reports that Dolphins DE JASON TAYLOR is coming
     out with a calendar of him "in a variety of mostly shirtless
     poses."  "Jason Taylor 2000" will go on sale this week, and
     a portion of the proceeds will benefit First Book, an
     organization giving children the "opportunity to read and
     own their first books." Taylor, on getting teased by
     teammates: "Oh yeah, I'll get a lot of it. ... If they could
     do [the calendar], they would, too" (MIAMI HERALD, 7/14).
     ...CO-based TELLURIDE SKI & GOLF CO. has sold an interest in
     its resort to Japanese firm MORITA INVESTMENTS INT'L,
     "headed" by HIDEO "JOE" MORITA.  Terms of the sale were not
     disclosed, but Morita will "share 50-50 in all major
     business decisions" with the resort (DENVER POST, 7/14).
     ...Former Flyers play-by-play voice GENE HART is in critical
     condition with illnesses "stemming from a malignancy."  Hart
     has called AHL Phantoms games the last two seasons on
     Comcast SportsNet (PHILADELPHIA DAILY NEWS, 7/14)....ABC's
     Dean Reynolds profiled Rangers P JEFF ZIMMERMAN on last
     night's "World News Tonight."  ABC's Peter Jennings:
     "Remember the name" ("World News Tonight," ABC, 7/13).
