PROTEAM.COM USHERS IN A NEW PRESIDENT IN REORGANIZATION

PROTEAM.com, formerly Genesis Direct, has named sports
marketing exec Harry Usher as its new President & CEO and
"is regrouping into an Internet-based sports merchandise
company," according to Lauren Coleman-Lochner of the Bergen
RECORD. Usher previously served as the '84 L.A. Olympic
Organizing Committee COO and as USFL Commissioner. More
recently he was CEO of Dorna USA. Usher replaces Warren
Struhl, who will stay on as PROTEAM Chair. Struhl notes
that the company, which went public in May of '98, has "some
challenges ahead," as it tries to "establish itself as a
leading Internet retailer." PROTEAM reported a '98 loss of
$155.8M, or $5.41 per share, compared with a loss of $76.2M,
or $8.98 per share, the previous year, despite increased
sales from $107.2M in '97 to $252.3M in '98. The loss
includes a $63.3M charge for restructuring and discontinuing
certain businesses. PROTEAM's shares closed at $1.875
yesterday, down $.06. The company handles the official
catalogs for the NHL, NBA and NASCAR (Bergen RECORD, 7/14).
