          NFL: BRANDWEEK's Terry Lefton reports that UPS,
     Gatorade and Nortel Networks have signed as corporate
     sponsors of the NFL's Broncos-Chargers American Bowl in
     Sydney, Australia, this August.  CT-based Millsport
     President Jim Millman, whose firm is promoting the game and
     selling corporate sponsorships, said "that corporate
     sponsorships added up to around" $2.6M in cash and barter
     (BRANDWEEK, 6/28 issue)....A new commercial from GSD&M for
     the NFL and Southwest Airlines was filmed at Barney's in
     N.Y. and features two women "running through the famed
     Madison Ave. store spiking Faberge eggs" (N.Y. DAILY NEWS,
     6/30)....Vikings WR Randy Moss' agent Tim DiPiero said his
     client "didn't intentionally blow off" a recent autograph
     session in FL (THE DAILY, 6/28), but "there was a serious
     lack of communication" (Minneapolis STAR TRIBUNE, 6/30).
     ...BRANDWEEK's Gerry Khermouch reports that Miller Brewing
     will "step up" its NFL-related promos around the Miller Lite
     brand, adding "more in-pack NFL guides, broaden availability
     of a popular inflatable chair" and will take its new
     "pilsner glass icon" on-premise with three team-specific
     designs.  The effort begins in August (BRANDWEEK, 6/28). 
          NOTES: CNN will include Yankees P Roger Clemens in its
     new $25M image campaign breaking July 1 with the tag, "You
     are what you know" (AD AGE, 6/29)....In Raleigh, Anne Saker
     reported on the Special Olympics World Games in Raleigh, NC. 
     The event has 106 companies paying $20M of the $35.5M total
     cost (Raleigh NEWS & OBSERVER, 6/29)....The Brewers' ad
     agency Kohnke Hanneken won the "Best of Show" prize at the
     Milwaukee Ad Club's awards for its Brewers creative campaign
     (ADWEEK, 6/28 issue)....Thirteen members of the Stars have
     signed 15,000 autographs on memorabilia for Steiner Sports
     Marketing.  In an exclusive deal with Steiner Sports, Stars
     RW Brett Hull autographed 3,000 items (Steiner Sports). 

TNT’s Stan Van Gundy, ESPN’s Tim Reed, NBA Playoffs and NFL Draft

On this week’s pod, SBJ’s Austin Karp has two Big Get interviews. The first is with TNT’s Stan Van Gundy as he breaks down the NBA Playoffs from the booth. Later in the show, we hear from ESPN’s VP of Programming and Acquisitions Tim Reed as the NFL Draft gets set to kick off on Thursday night in Motown.
