WILL THIS PHOENIX RISE AGAIN? NEW ARENA COULD MEAN NEW NAME

If the Coyotes are successful in getting an arena built
in Scottsdale, "there is a good chance [the team] will
change its name to the Arizona Coyotes," according to Les
Polk of the AZ REPUBLIC, who writes that the name change was
one of a "number of issues" Coyotes President Shawn Hunter
touched on during a breakfast forum yesterday. Hunter also
said that the team "continues to operate as a 'non-profit'
business, but would probably be able to turn a profit in
their first year" in a new 18,000-seat arena. Hunter, on a
new arena's effect on the area: "I think we can do it
without cannibalizing America West" (AZ REPUBLIC, 6/30).
