TENNIS NEWS & NOTES: CBS CUTS AD DEALS; FILA INKS WITH ATP

CBS has "cut major U.S. Open tennis ad deals" with Ford
and AmEx, according to sources of the SPORTSBUSINESS
JOURNAL's Langdon Brockinton, who reports that both are
multi-year deals beginning in '99 with AmEx and Ford each
receiving category exclusivity during the broadcast. CBS
"declined comment" (SPORTSBUSINESS JOURNAL, 6/28 issue).
Also, sources of the SPORTSBUSINESS JOURNAL's Daniel Kaplan
said that Fila will "become the second major global sponsor"
of the ATP Tour beginning in 2000. ISL Worldwide created
the deal, in which it seeks $10M over 10 years from new
sponsors in order to "help pay" for its $1.2B guarantee to
the Tour (SPORTSBUSINESS JOURNAL, 6/28 issue).
