GET THEIR MOTOROLA RUNNIN': WOODS-DUVAL MATCH INKS SPONSOR

Motorola has signed a $2.4M deal with ABC to title
sponsor the Tiger Woods-David Duval made-for-TV golf match
on August 2, according to Andy Bernstein of the
SPORTSBUSINESS JOURNAL. Motorola will receive 12 30-second
spots during the primetime telecast, to be called the
"Motorola Showdown at Sherwood," and will also have its name
on the pin flags at each hole and on caddies' shirts. ABC
was seeking an 18-spot, $4M deal, but Bernstein writes that
the Motorola package is "a hefty load considering there is
no precedent" for TV audience size. A-B will be the
exclusive beer advertiser for the event, and will receive as
"many as" 10 30-second spots (SPORTSBUSINESS JOURNAL, 6/21).
