Shanahan ($2.4M). Bottom five: Chargers' Mike Riley
($550,000); Cowboys' Chan Gailey ($600,000); Chiefs' Gunther
Cunningham ($600,000); Raiders' Jon Gruden ($650,000); the

OTHER NOTES: On ESPN.com, Jamie Trecker wrote that he's
"not glad to see" calls for the resignation of MLS
Commissioner Doug Logan. If Logan were to leave, Trecker
writes, "you'll see a whole bunch of people on the team and
sponsor side of the equation suddenly without a vocal ally,
and that's bad for everyone" (ESPN.com, 6/18)....Knicks F
Larry Johnson and the team were fined $25,000 each after
Johnson "cursed out" NBA officials who asked him to
participate in the mandatory media session at MSG (N.Y.
DAILY NEWS, 6/21)....WTA Tour CEO Bart McGuire, on the
behavior of Martina Hingis: "There are things she's done and
said that don't present her in an attractive light, and
certainly she succeeded in creating a hostile crowd in the
French final, but I see it as more of a competitive
judgement issue than a sportsmanship issue. Do I condone
what she did? No. ... [But] as for it having an adverse
effect on women's tennis, I don't think so" (N.Y. TIMES,
