FACILITY NOTES

In San Diego, Superior Court Judge Judith McConnell
indicated Friday she is "likely to rule" that the city and
the Padres "have violated" CA law by proceeding with the $1B
ballpark/downtown project "before an environmental study of
its impacts was completed." McConnell's "likely ruling"
would set back the city's timetable by at least 90 days.
Philip La Velle wrote that "it would probably disrupt the
city's plans" to raise $225M in a bond issue in early 2000
(SAN DIEGO UNION-TRIBUNE, 6/19)....The Steelers officially
broke ground for their new stadium on Friday (Pittsburgh
TRIBUNE-REVIEW, 6/19)....The NHL Wild have sold "all but
one" of their 64 suites (Minneapolis STAR-TRIBUNE, 6/20).
...Red Sox CEO John Harrington will speak before the New
England Women in Real Estate's annual meeting on "Preserving
the Red Sox Experience with a New Ballpark" tomorrow in
Boston (BOSTON GLOBE, 6/19). Boston's top business and
tourism organizations are paying for a $30,000 study "to
show how a new Red Sox ballpark will be a boon to the
economy." IL-based Johnson Consulting "is putting the final
touches" on a ballpark report for the Greater Boston Chamber
of Commerce & Convention and Visitors Bureau (BOSTON HERALD,
6/19)....The 30 additional minisuites added to the Browns'
new stadium "sold out easily" (CLEV. PLAIN DEALER, 6/20).
