A NEW GENERATION FOR MEADOWLANDS: COKE OUT AFTER 14 YEARS

PepsiCo has inked a multiyear deal with the NJ Sports &
Exposition Authority to get exclusive soft drink pouring
rights and sponsorship at the Meadowlands Sports Complex,
replacing Coca-Cola. Pepsi signage and logos will be
featured on the facilities' scoreboards, concourse and
concessions, as well as on printed materials and the
Meadowlands' Web site. Conversion to Pepsi signage will
begin at the Continental Airlines Arena at the end of June
and Giants Stadium by mid-July. Meadowlands and Monmouth
Park Racetracks will also change to Pepsi signs (Pepsi).
NEWSDAY's Steve Zipay reports that the deal is for seven
years and "worth more than" $5.2M. Coke had the rights
since the Meadowlands opened in '76 (NEWSDAY, 6/18).
