          Sabres Owner JOHN RIGAS' ADELPHIA COMMUNICATIONS is
     profiled in the current issue of BROADCASTING & CABLE.  The
     74-year-old operates the business with his three sons,
     TIMOTHY, MICHAEL and JAMES.  John Rigas: "Sometimes people
     ask me which son would take over.  I would never want to
     make that decision" (BROADCASTING & CABLE, 6/14
     issue)....ESPN anchor RICH EISEN has "bagged a bachelor pad"
     on the West Side of N.Y. (N.Y. DAILY NEWS, 6/17)....After
     watching his appearance on "LARRY KING LIVE," Lloyd Grove of
     the WASHINGTON POST wonders if MICHAEL JORDAN has "undergone
     cosmetic surgery."  Jordan's spokesperson ESTEE PORTNOY:
     "He's had no work done on him.  He shaved off his mustache"
     (WASHINGTON POST, 6/17)....DENNIS RODMAN is the cover story
     of DETOUR magazine and says, "I have four publicists now.  I
     ask myself, how did this happen?  I do so much, and make so
     much money, and there are so many people around me who use
     and abuse me to make money for themselves" (DETOUR, 7/99).
     Rodman appeared on last night's "Tonight Show" with JAY
     LENO.  Rodman: "I do it all.  The only thing I haven't done
     is pornos.  That's next."  Leno: "That's a sign your career
     is on an upswing" (NBC, 6/16)....The Univ. of RI is
     "preparing an appeal" to the NCAA that could allow LAMAR
     ODOM to return to school to play basketball (PROVIDENCE
     JOURNAL, 6/17)....A FL condo association has dropped its
     suit against 76ers C MATT GEIGER after receiving a promise
     that he will keep the noise down.  Geiger has been accused
     of playing "loud music all day and night, [making] thumping
     noises against his floors and walls" and spreading "trash
     onto neighboring properties" (ST. PETERSBURG TIMES, 6/17).
     ...Prospective Royals Owner MILES PRENTICE has purchased a
     condo for he and his family in K.C.  Prentice "hopes to
     close" on a bigger home once his deal to buy the team in
     approved (K.C. STAR, 6/16).....Singer/Songwriter STEVE
     POLLAK AKA "THE DUDE OF LIFE" has written the song "PETE
     ROSE" for his new CD, "Under The Sound Umbrella," asking MLB
     to revoke the lifetime ban against Rose (THE DAILY)....U.S.
     Women's Soccer team member BRANDI CHASTAIN appeared on the
     "Late Show" with DAVID LETTERMAN"  Chastain, on her GEAR
     magazine photo feature in which she appears nude holding
     only a soccer ball: "It's going on all the walls across the
     hotel."  Letterman: "Is there a chance before the tournament
     is over we'll see the entire team nude?" (CBS, 6/16).
