RAVENS WILL HAVE TO COPE WITHOUT THEIR VP/SALES & MARKETING

Ravens VP/Sales & Marketing David Cope will be named
Exec VP of the Redskins, according to Heath & Shapiro of the
WASHINGTON POST, who write that the hiring marks the first
personnel move by new Owner Daniel Snyder. Cope will become
the franchise's "number two executive," responsible for
stadium and ticket ops, corporate sales, broadcasting, PR,
premium sales and marketing. Heath & Shapiro add that
Snyder is also planning to hire a CEO "in the near future"
(WASHINGTON POST, 6/15). In Baltimore, Jon Morgan writes
that one of Cope's "specialties" is naming rights deals, and
Snyder has said that "he will explore" selling the rights to
Jack Kent Cooke Stadium (Baltimore SUN, 6/15).
TV TIME: In DC, Heath & Shapiro also report that the
Redskins are negotiating with several DC TV stations to
"carry four preseason games and a rookie scrimmage from
training camp and become the team's 'official' local
station," which could include the "possible frequent on-air
presence" of Snyder (WASHINGTON POST, 6/15).
