NAMES IN THE NEWS

          TV MONITOR: Last night, the 11:00pm edition of "Fox
     Sports News Primetime" (NESN), ESPN's "SportsCenter" and
     CNN/SI's "Sports Tonight" led with the Hawks-Knicks game. 
     CNN and FSN followed that with MSG President Dave Checketts'
     press conference.  ESPN followed the Hawks-Knicks with the
     retirement of Magic coach Chuck Daly (THE DAILY).
          NAMES: Predators President JACK DILLER is in the
     critical-care unit of St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville
     following a "successful quadruple-bypass" yesterday
     (TENNESSEAN, 5/25)....A SAMMY SOSA restaurant is reportedly
     in the works for Chicago (CHICAGO TRIBUNE, 5/25)....Kings C
     VLADE DIVAC appeared on "The Tonight Show" with JAY LENO,
     and talked about the bombing of Kosovo, where his family is
     still living: "What I see is some crazy stuff because
     everybody is suffering, everybody is losing.  Nobody is
     going to win from this" (NBC, 5/24)....A group of sports
     coaches, officials, organizations, administrators and the
     media are set to announce today the creation of the ARIZONA
     ACCORD, which seeks to "promote greater emphasis on ethical
     and character-building aspects of athletic competition" (USA
     TODAY, 5/25)....EVANDER HOLYFIELD has started his own record
     label, Atlanta-based Real Deal Records, and will concentrate
     on what he calls "positive music."  Real Deal's first
     release this summer will be an album by "self-proclaimed
     'God-hop' group Shalom" (EW, 5/28 issue)....In Philadelphia,
     John Smallwood, on how 76ers G ALLEN IVERSON handled himself
     during the playoffs: "Win or lose, Iverson always showed up
     to fulfill his obligation to answer questions.  He was
     gracious in victory; reflective in defeat. ... Sure, the
     cornrows, jewelry and hip-hop clothes were still there, but
     that's ... Iverson" (PHILADELPHIA DAILY NEWS, 5/25).

TNT’s Stan Van Gundy, ESPN’s Tim Reed, NBA Playoffs and NFL Draft

On this week’s pod, SBJ’s Austin Karp has two Big Get interviews. The first is with TNT’s Stan Van Gundy as he breaks down the NBA Playoffs from the booth. Later in the show, we hear from ESPN’s VP of Programming and Acquisitions Tim Reed as the NFL Draft gets set to kick off on Thursday night in Motown. SBJ’s Tom Friend also joins the show to share his insights into NBA viewership trends.
