IVERSON GIVES HIS ANSWER TO HIS BODYGUARD: "SEE YA"

ALLEN IVERSON has "terminated the relationship" with
his bodyguard TERRY ROYSTER, according to Stephen Smith of
the PHILADELPHIA INQUIRER. Iverson was paying Royster
$100,000 per year. Iverson "doesn't need Royster," as he is
"spending more time with his two children." Smith adds that
during the playoffs, Iverson has "even sharpened his
wardrobe, entering postgame news conferences in two-piece
suits." One friend of Iverson's said, "He's going through a
total image transformation. It's become very important to
him. He's expressed that to all of us" (PHILADELPHIA
INQUIRER, 5/21). Iverson: "I just don't want people to feel
like I'm some bad guy, label me the bad boy. I'm not the
bad boy of the NBA" (CNN/SI, 5/20). Iverson's relationship
with 76ers President PAT CROCE is examined by Larry Platt in
Philadelphia Magazine. The two "claim to have more in
common than the gulfs of race and generation that should
divide them." Croce: "We're soulmates" (PHILADELPHIA, 5/99).
