A SLOC TRIFECTA: THREE NEW SPONSORS ADDED ON FRIDAY

SLOC CEO Mitt Romney announced on Friday that three UT
companies are "putting up more than" $30M in cash and
contributions of goods and services for the 2002 Olympics,
according to Lisa Riley Roche of the DESERET NEWS. Romney
introduced the three UT firms as O.C. Tanner Co., Marker
Ltd. and Questar Corp., which, along with "longtime sponsor"
AT&T, are the "first to sign" on with the Games since bid
scandal surfaced last year. Roche wrote that "none of the
company officials at the press conference said they felt
threatened by the scandal." Questar and O.C. Tanner are
suppliers to both the Games and to the U.S. Olympic teams,
and their deals are reportedly worth $5M-10M each. Marker
is "solely a sponsor of the 2002 Winter Games, a deal worth
at least" $20M (DESERET NEWS, 5/15). In Salt Lake, Linda
Fantin wrote that Marker's $20M-plus commitment will cover
clothing for volunteers, staff members and torch bearers.
O.C. Tanner will provide the medals and Questar natural gas
will supply "fuel" for the Games (SALT LAKE TRIBUNE, 5/15).
