ADMIRAL-ABLE MOVE: HIGH SCHOOL VOTES TO GIVE COURT TO SPURS
Published May 13, 1999
In San Antonio, Judson Senior High School students
voted more than two-to-one yesterday to delay their May 25th
graduation a day if the Spurs advance to the second round of
the NBA playoffs, according to Cecilia Balli of the San
Antonio EXPRESS-NEWS. "Some" 400 of the 700 graduating
seniors filled out paper ballots during their lunch hour
asking if they wanted to keep the event in the Alamodome or
if they wanted to hold it May 25th in the Judson football
stadium. In return for the use of the Alamodome, the NBA is
paying the school district $30,000, a figure proposed by
Judson Principal Eddie Parsley, "whether the graduation
ceremony ends up being changed or not" (EXPRESS-NEWS, 5/13).
