FACILITY NOTES

Chicago Mayor Richard Daley is "focusing" on a new site
for a new Bears stadium, east of the Dan Ryan Expressway
near Comiskey Park (CHICAGO SUN-TIMES, 5/12)....In Chicago,
Paul Sullivan reports that the Cubs will install "a new game
plan" to cut down rowdiness in the Wrigley bleachers for
this weekend's three-game series against the Braves.
Changes could possibly limit beer sales in the bleachers to
two at a time per customer and eliminate the 20-ounce cup of
beer (CHICAGO TRIBUNE, 5/12)....The Penguins were "upset"
with the way the visiting team is "forced to enter and exit"
its bench area at Air Canada Centre. A narrow walkway
between the glass and the first row of fans extends about 40
feet from the bench to the team's runway, keeping "players
and coaches within arm's reach of the fans." Penguins LW
Matthew Barnaby: "It's ridiculous. Someone's going to get
seriously hurt with either a stick or a punch in the future"
(PITTSBURGH POST-GAZETTE, 5/12)....A week before voters
"decide the fate" of a $624M sports and entertainment
complex at Los Arcos Mall "anchored" by the Coyotes, the
WISL Thunder said it will also move to the new arena if it
is built. The Thunder plays a 12-game home schedule at
Veterans Memorial Coliseum (ARIZONA REPUBLIC, 5/12).
