In Toronto, William Houston reports that Calgary organizers have been negotiating with Time Warner to acquire rights to the 2005 Goodwill Games. Sources said that Calgary "is viewed favourably" by Turner Sports because of its current facilities (Toronto GLOBE & MAIL, 4/9)....The Dallas 2012 Olympic bid committee "will provide initial funding for a regional sports commission that should be formed in the next two months to attract sports events to the North Texas area." Dallas 2012 Chair Tom Luce said he hopes that recruiting and hosting Olympic and other amateur sports events "will boost the region's chances of winning the 2012 Games" (FT. WORTH STAR-TELEGRAM, 4/9).
