Former Bucs VP/Marketing & Communications Rick McNerney
claims that a ticket mixup which angered many Bucs season-
ticket holders by displacing them from their usual seat
locations during the team's move to Raymond James Stadium
was due to "a team of college interns, not a much
ballyhooed, high-tech computer program" as originally cited
by the team, according to Pat Yasinskas of the TAMPA
TRIBUNE. McNerney: "It is my understanding that [Bucs VPs]
Bryan and Joel Glazer decided to use college interns to
manually place people in seats as opposed to using a state-
of-the-art computer program." McNerney, who was dismissed
from the team in October and now is VP/Communications &
Marketing for the Goodwill Games, said that he "didn't want
to take shots at his former employer," but that season-
ticket holders "have a right to know how seats were
selected." Both the Bucs and Ticketmaster, which designed
the program, "disputed" McNerney's claim, but the team, "for
the first time, publicly said not all seat assignments were
done by computer" (TAMPA TRIBUNE, 4/28).
