          In Detroit, Perry Farrell reports that Pistons F
     CHRISTIAN LAETTNER was involved in a fight with G JERRY
     STACKHOUSE over "a card game that got out hand" during the
     team flight Wednesday from Charlotte.  One source said the
     players were "arguing" over $2,000 and an unnamed player
     said, "I couldn't believe it. I looked up and they were
     going at it, throwing blows.  The Pistons "intend to ban"
     card games on future flights (DETROIT FREE PRESS, 4/23).
     ...Time Warner Vice Chair TED TURNER a ranch is SD,
     "believed to be" around 100,000 acres.  The new property
     would bring his total land holdings to 1.5 million acres in
     states that include NE, MT and NM (ATLANTA CONSTITUTION,
     4/23)....Magic Owner RICH DEVOS will undergo arthroscopic
     surgery on his left knee on Saturday.  DeVos suffered a
     cartilage tear in the knee while doing his "usual" deep knee
     bends (ORLANDO SENTINEL, 4/23)....Magic Senior VP PAT
     WILLIAMS, who ran in the Boston Marathon with his wife,
     Ruth: "By the time we crossed the finish line, the Kenyans
     already were on the plane going home" (ORL. SENTINEL, 4/23).
     ...MUHAMMAD ALI was one of eight witnesses testifying before
     U.S. Senator John McCain (R-AZ) and the Commerce Committee
     yesterday at a hearing on boxing reform (Mult., 4/23)
