          BUSINESS WEEK's Lorraine Woellert profiles MD business
     exec and prospective Redskins bidder Daniel Snyder. Cowboys
     Owner Jerry Jones: "Snyder would be an outstanding owner"
     (BUSINESS WEEK, 4/26 issue)....The Jaguars have "mailed
     thousands of postcards to fans who have attended at least
     one game" in an effort to sell "about" 5,000 available
     season tickets.  Jags CFO Bill Prescott: "It is the most
     economical way to reach out and touch fans" (FLORIDA TIMES -
     UNION, 4/17)....In Detroit, Perry Farrell writes that Pacers
     coach Larry Bird will "move into the front office next
     season" as Exec VP, with Rick Carlisle "taking over as coach
     ... a move that hasn't set well with the players, who don't
     respect Carlisle" (DETROIT FREE-PRESS, 4/20)....The IHL K.C.
     Blades "Toothless Night" promotion last Saturday drew 9,325,
     with 269 fans getting in free for missing a tooth, and 48
     qualifying for half-price tickets with a chipped tooth (CP,
     4/20)....In Philadelphia, Christopher Hepp writes on the
     success of the AHL Phantoms.  Phantoms COO Frank Micelli
     says "putting a great product on the ice and keeping your
     tickets affordable is two-thirds of it.  The rest is
     creativity."  To which Hepp adds, "The Phantoms ... do it as
     well as anyone" (PHILADELPHIA INQUIRER, 4/20).

On this week’s pod, SBJ’s Austin Karp has two Big Get interviews. The first is with TNT’s Stan Van Gundy as he breaks down the NBA Playoffs from the booth. Later in the show, we hear from ESPN’s VP of Programming and Acquisitions Tim Reed as the NFL Draft gets set to kick off on Thursday night in Motown. SBJ’s Tom Friend also joins the show to share his insights into NBA viewership trends.
