          Lakers F DENNIS RODMAN will play himself in the April
     26 episode of CBS' "L.A. DOCTORS" (NEWSDAY, 4/13).
     ...FORTUNE's David Whitford profiles Marlins Owner JOHN
     HENRY, who says that MLB's "only negative is the economic
     disparity between the clubs."  Henry: "I'm not going to lose
     $30 million to be a hero in South Florida" (FORTUNE, 4/26
     issue)....ISIAH THOMAS donated $10,000 to the Boys and Girls
     Club of Southeastern MI in support of its educational
     programs.  It is the first contribution from THE ISIAH
     THOMAS FOUNDATION (DETROIT NEWS, 4/14)....Magic G DARRELL
     ARMSTRONG is serving as a spokesperson for the FATHERHOOD
     CAMPAIGN, an effort to address the "growing epidemic of
     absentee fathers throughout" FL, organized by Tampa-based
     Family First (ORLANDO SENTINEL, 4/14)....On "Entertainment
     Tonight," Bob Goen reported that FRED COUPLES, KEVIN COSTNER
     and ROBERT WAGNER were in Costa Mesa, CA, for the ground-
     breaking of their new restaurant, "The Clubhouse at South
     Coast Plaza," scheduled to open this fall.  The three, along
     with JACK NICKLAUS, are also partners in a Clubhouse
     restaurant in Chicago ("ET," 4/13)....Charleston (SC) Metro
     Chamber of Commerce's Business Development Corp. Dir of
     Operations KATHLEEN CARTLAND will also take on the duties of
     Charleston Metro Sports Council Exec Dir, effective July 1,
     and will "try to maximize the Lowcountry's potential of
     becoming a haven for sports and sporting events" (Charleston
     POST & COURIER, 4/12)....RICKY WILLIAMS appeared on "The
     Late Late Show with Craig Kilborn."  Kilborn suggested
     Williams get a nickname, like "Master P."  Among those
     suggested: "The Flying Texan," "Big Ricky," "The UPS Man,"
     and "Dr. R."  Williams suggested "The Bus Driver," because
     "I take everyone to school" (CBS, 4/14).
