ROCKET GETTING BLASTED: JAYS USE CLEMENS IN TICKET CAMPAIGN

Even though Yankees P Roger Clemens is no longer with
the Blue Jays, his face now "sits front and centre" in the
team's billboard ticket-selling campaigns, according to Mike
Rutsey of the TORONTO SUN. The Blue Jays' relationship with
their former pitcher "has gone from praising [him] to
kicking him." One of the billboards shows a shot of Clemens
in his Yankees uniform with the message, "Pick the seats you
love and the teams you hate." Blue Jays VP/Marketing Terry
Zuk maintains the team is not "attempting to tap into fan
resentment" over Clemens' departure and adds that Clemens'
picture is one of five being used, including one of Braves
Owner Ted Turner and his wife, Jane Fonda. Zuk: "The
Yankees, as well as being a powerhouse, are a team you like
to hate and we're just having some fun with it. What we're
trying to do first of all is to get noticed and from the
feedback we've had we've been successful" (TOR. SUN, 3/30).
