ARE ALL SIDES READY IN CASE MILSTEIN'S BID FAILS?

If the Howard Milstein-Daniel Snyder bid for the
Redskins and Jack Kent Cooke Stadium fails, the Jack Kent
Cooke estate trustees "likely would hold a second auction
within the next few months to find a new buyer," according
to Heath & Maske of the WASHINGTON POST. John Kent Cooke
and AZ business exec Sam Grossman "initially would be the
leading contenders," while Ft. Worth investor David
Bonderman has also "expressed an interest in bidding again"
(WASHINGTON POST, 3/27). In N.Y., Mike Freeman reported
that Milstein "has come off as arrogant in his dealings with
a significant number" of NFL owners during his pursuit of
the team (N.Y. TIMES, 3/28). In Atlanta, Len Pasquarelli
wrote that NFL owners are "taking a increasing note of the
manner in which [Milstein] has operated" the Islanders and
"it's clear they don't like what they have witnessed the
past few weeks." He speculates that Grossman will likely
land "the franchise" (ATLANTA CONSTITUTION, 3/28).
