STAND UP, PACER PEOPLE! YOUR TEAM HAS HIT SPONSOR JACKPOT
Published March 24, 1999
The Pacers announced seven "major" corporate sponsors
yesterday, which included partnerships with the team as well
as Conseco Fieldhouse, according to Sean Horgan of the
INDIANAPOLIS STAR-NEWS. The seven Building Sponsors include
Miller Brewing, PepsiCo, Bank One, ATA Airlines, Marsh
Supermarkets, Emmis Communications Corp. and The
Indianapolis Star-News. The Pacers "declined to pin a value
on the high-end sponsorships," but Horgan writes that each
sponsorship package "could be worth up to" $1M annually,
"depending on the individual deal." Pacers GM David Kahn
said that the packages "range from five to 10 years in
length, with most leaning toward the latter." Kahn: "It's a
considerable investment." Pacers President Donnie Walsh
said that all of the packages include "commitments for
extensive" arena signage, broadcast advertising, "the
leasing of at least one suite and the purchase of additional
tickets." All but PepsiCo have been team sponsors in the
past, but "none with an investment of this magnitude" (Sean
Horgan, INDIANAPOLIS STAR-NEWS, 3/24).
