With "problems cropping up at the Adriaen's Landing
site" for a new Patriots stadium, Hartford city officials
have begun "quietly preparing a fallback option," according
to Weiss & Kinsman of the HARTFORD COURANT. Hartford Mayor
Michael Peters has led some area leaders on a "tour of an
alternative stadium site in the northern part of downtown,"
off I-84. Peters: "We were just showing some interested
parties what can be if things don't work out at Adriaen's
Landing. We're not scrambling. We're just being prepared."
Talks are stalled over the relocation of a steam plant which
is in the way of the planned stadium site (HARTFORD COURANT,
3/20). On Friday, a lawsuit initiated by the group Stop the
Stadium Inc. was served to the CT Attorney General's office.
The "complaint seeks a judgement" that the Patriots' stadium
deal "violated several articles" of the CT Constitution.
The lawsuit is "expected to be filed in State Superior Court
next week." Consumer advocate Ralph Nader "is expected to
seek a federal lawsuit as well" (HARTFORD COURANT, 3/20).
