EXECUTIVE TRANSACTIONS

          Chicago-based IMS has named JIM BEATTY as Creative Dir. 
     Beatty has been a freelance writer and consultant in Chicago
     for the past five years (IMS)....The NCAA Foundation named
     Univ. of DE VP/Development and Alumni Relations MARION
     PEAVEY as Exec Dir.  Peavey will oversee the Foundation's
     fundraising and development efforts (NCAA)....GARRY SOBBA
     has joined Learfield Communications, which handles
     broadcasting and marketing services for NCAA schools.  Sobba
     was Assistant AD for Marketing and Broadcasting at the Univ.
     of Houston (HOUSTON CHRONICLE, 3/19)....The USOC named JOHN
     RUGER as Athlete Ombudsman.  Since '97, Ruger has directed
     his own sports marketing and management firm in CO (USOC).
