          Charlotte's New Arena Committee unveiled 16 prospective
     sites for a new Hornets arena, 13 of which are uptown and
     three outside the city.  The City Council will receive a new
     "short list" by June 30 (CHARLOTTE OBSERVER, 3/18)....An
     Eagles concert will "usher in the New Year" at the Staples
     Center, capping the arena's three-month, grand-opening
     period.  The Staples Center is set to open in October (DAILY
     VARIETY, 3/18)....In S.F., Zachary Coile wrote that two city
     officials said that the 49ers "will forfeit" $100M in voter-
     approved bonds "if they drop plans to build a shopping mall
     with their proposed new stadium" (S.F. EXAMINER, 3/17).
