WKYC IN CLEVELAND IS DAWGING IT! NBC AFFIL WINS BROWNS DEAL

The Browns have awarded local TV broadcasting rights to
WKYC-NBC, according to David Morgan of the AKRON BEACON
JOURNAL. WKYC will broadcast the team's preseason games not
seen on national TV and will produce both pre- and post-game
shows. WKYC also plans a weekly magazine show and a
Saturday morning show geared toward children. Browns VP/
Communications & Public Affairs Alex Martins says the kids
show will "be educationally focused but with a Browns theme"
(BEACON JOURNAL, 2/23). In Cleveland, Roger Brown reports
that the two-year deal has WKYC paying the Browns $2M this
season and $2.1M in 2000. The deal also includes an option
for a third year at a cost of $2.2M (PLAIN DEALER, 2/23).
