TORONTO LOOKING TO MAKE ANOTHER TRADE: ARENA USE FOR SUITE

The City of Toronto "wants to trade some of its rights
to use the Air Canada Centre as a venue for community events
in return for a 12-seat corporate box," according to Paul
Moloney of the TORONTO STAR. The trade would "represent a
major change from an earlier agreement" in which the city
sold land in exchange for C$100,000 in cash and use of the
arena for six days a year for 20 years. But City Councillor
Chris Korwin-Kuczynski said the box -- including game
tickets -- would be available to community groups who
couldn't afford to attend games. It would also be used to
"entertain visiting VIPs" (TORONTO STAR, 2/23).
FOOD FRONT: STAR restaurant critic Cynthia Wine reviews
the concession offerings at the new arena and writes, "The
food has the SkyDome beat by a mile. It is less expensive
and tastes better. At each price level, there is greater
variety and better quality" (TORONTO STAR, 2/23).
