CHIP SHOTS: ADIDAS INKS YOUNG GOLFER; IS GOLF STILL "SEXY"

          adidas-Salomon has signed a multi-year agreement with
LPGA Tour player Marisa Baena, who will market adidas
footwear, apparel and accessories internationally. The 21-
year-old native of Colombia was the '96 women's NCAA
Champion while at the Univ. of AZ (adidas).
IS GOLF HOT? In Chicago, Patrick Cole wrote that golf
"suddenly is sexy," as it "has become a new passion for a
growing number of Americans, particularly women, minorities
and teens. ... Acknowledging its newfound chic, advertisers
increasingly are using the 18th hole as a seductive setting
for twentysomethings, to push products from cellular phones
to vacation resorts" (CHICAGO TRIBUNE, 2/18).
