NO BLUES FOR MARQUEE GROUP? NEW DIVISION IN TALKS WITH WB

Warner Brothers (WB) is "close to finalizing a deal"
with Marquee-Tollin/Robbins, a division of The Marquee
Group, according to Lynette Rice of the HOLLYWOOD REPORTER.
The two-year deal may "well exceed" $4M per year and would
be for TV only. WB would provide Marquee-Tollin/Robbins
with $1.5M a year to "develop primetime and kids shows."
Sources say the deal "may involve alliances with one or more
of the broadcast networks" (HOLLYWOOD REPORTER, 1/27). The
first film from Marquee-Tollin/Robbins, "Varsity Blues," has
been the No. 1 box-office draw for the past two weeks. For
more on The Marquee Group, see (#19).
