THE LAST FIREWORKS IN TAHOE? CELEB GOLF EVENT MAY BE MOVED

The Celebrity Golf Championship, held at Edgewood Tahoe
Golf Course in Lake Tahoe, is looking for a new title
sponsor, according to Schneider & Parsons of the TAHOE DAILY
TRIBUNE. If a "major sponsor" is not signed, this year's
event "might be the last time" that it is held in Lake
Tahoe. Isuzu, which has sponsored the event for the last
seven years, "dropped out" after the '98 tournament. Mel
Thomas, GM of Caesars Tahoe, the event's host casino, said
that "discussions with possible sponsors have been
unsuccessful, but he will continue to search for a sponsor
to pick up" the $2.5M deal (TAHOE DAILY TRIBUNE, 1/22).
